Dear People of Saint John's, The new Archbishop of Canterbury and the Pope shared a visit this week. It is a blessing that this important ecumenical relationship endures. This has been in the news, and I especially like the report from the office of the Archbishop of Canterbury found here. Tomorrow night we complete our online Anglicanism class at 7 pm, and we will focus on the 20th century and the church today. How do the rich deposits of these previous centuries and movements continue to nourish this fruitful tradition? A separate link will be sent out on Thursday. This Saturday is the Shepherd's Storehouse Food Pantry from 10 until noon. Set-up takes place in the gym on Friday mornings. Come share in this life-giving outreach! Throughout the month of May our Saturday group will be finishing Season 5 of The Chosen. This season has taken us slowly through Holy Week, as the complexities of politics, religious factions, troubled disciples and God's unfathomable design lead inexorably to the arrest in the Garden of Gethsemane. We share this from 10:30 to 11:30 on Saturday mornings.
National Day of Prayer -- Thursday, May 7. Please join us as we lift prayers for our world, our nation, our city, and all our communities. There will be a special time of prayer at Troy City Hall at 8 a.m. in the 5th Floor Conference Room. Please join Cameron Fisher for his piano performance on Friday, May 15, 7pm, at the Mt. Ida Preservation Hall on 548 Congress Street. His performance will feature a blend of jazz and classical pieces, accompanied by a backing track of drums and bass. He hopes to share his love of music in a way that brings people together and creates a meaningful experience for his audience. Tickets are $10—available both at the door and online at Mount Ida Preservation Hall And looking further ahead, we will crown the Easter Season with Pentecost on May 24th. Bishop Jeremiah Williamson will be coming for his first official episcopal visitation. Confirmations and receptions into the Episcopal Church will take place that day. Please mark your calendars! And even further down the road the diocese will be having a tent revival on Thursday evening June 19th, at 7 p.m., featuring former Presiding Bishop Michael Curry as preacher. Yes, a tent revival in the Episcopal Church: believe it, mark your calendars, and come! The revival is free, but at 5 p.m. that evening there will be a dinner, for which you will need tickets. More information can be found here. We have no one signed up for coffee hour on May 10th and May 31st. If you can provide something for us to enjoy, please call the office at (518) 274-5884. With gratitude in Our Risen Lord, Mtr. Judith
