Dear People of Saint John's,

Yelp! I need somebody! Yelp, not just anybody!  Yelp! You know I need someone. Yelp! It has come to my attention that on Yelp, we have only three reviews, and since one of them, from 2015, gave us one star, our overall rating is 3.5.  Could you please write a glowing review about us, in anticipation of Christmas?  This is an occasion when people do search online for a church, and we would love to welcome them here.  Won't you please, please, yelp?

We also need yelp with coffee hour this Sunday.  This need not be elaborate--something simple to enjoy while we gather after church.  Please call the office to volunteer.

We are in Advent, this joyful season of waiting for Christ! Invite your neighbors to something special at Saint John's.

This Sunday, we have a lively and abundant participation in Troy's Victorian Stroll:
Noon: Chime concert with Andy Mace and Jason Smith
12:30 pm: Christmas Carols led by Thompson Howell
1:15 pm: Tiffany presentation and sanctuary tours
2 pm: Scavenger hunting
3:30:  Troy Children's Chorus at 3:30.

Meanwhile the English Country Dancers will be in the gym dancing to live, seasonal music.  A dance lesson will be offered at 1:30 and the dance will be from 2 until 5.  Stop in and bring your friends!

We are providing gifts to those in our church who need help at Christmas.  Please pluck a tag from the Angel Tree display, sign your name for that tag, and after some joyous shopping, return your gifts by December 15th.

Our Advent candlelight meditations continue on Wednesdays, 4-5 pm:
December 10th: Reese Bush, violin
December 17th: Ben Halpin, flute
Enjoy a quiet hour of beautiful candlelit meditation in the Church, accompanied intermittently by instrumental music.

The Young Adults Ministry will be having a Christmas Cookie Exchange and Compline on Sunday, December 14th at 5 in the Thompson Room.  Bring a dozen of your favorite cookies, and come home with a variety to enjoy for the holidays!

Our Pageant/Lessons and Carols will be on Sunday, December 21st at the 10 a.m. service.  This will be the traditional 9 Lessons and Carols--no sermon, no Eucharist.  Some of the readings are enacted by the children; this is a great service to bring friends to.  Holy Eucharist, Rite 1, will be celebrated as usual at 8 a.m.

With gratitude for our life together,

Mother Judith
