Tomorrow is the Hidden Garden Tour from 4 until 7:30. Enjoy this wonderful Troy tradition. Tickets are available in the parking lot of Sage, just a block away.
This Sunday we will crown the Easter Season with Pentecost! Bishop Jeremiah Williamson will be coming for his first official episcopal visitation. As the Bishop has suggested, we will have one service at 10 a.m. He will be confirming Shea Wert, and receiving Ken Crognale and Deb Henderson. Afterwards, there will be a celebratory Special Coffee hour in the St John's gym. This opportunity generally only occurs every three years, and rarely does it occur on Pentecost. I hope you will see what a rarity this is, and come!
The following weekend, enjoy an evening of trumpet and piano from the Chop Break Duo, Friday, May 29th at 7 pm. Trumpeter CJ Waldrop and Pianist Alex Nagy present a concert featuring a Baroque sonata by Corelli, the rhapsodic violin piece Czardas by Monti, more recent works composed for trumpet and piano and an original arrangement of villainous music from Disney and Broadway--something for everybody!
The Thrift Shop has announced that it is not taking any more donations until July. They are overseeing a major cleaning effort, and the volunteers cannot process additional donations until then. But do put them aside; they look forward to receiving your donations then.
Our recycling efforts are becoming more robust. Not only do we have our usual multi-stream recycling, we have now become a ReBin center for recycling electronics. In the gym, there is a new green recycling bin just for electronics: cables and cords, VCRs, laptops, tablets, gaming consoles, printers, scanners, stereo systems, phones, aiming to securely recycle or repurpose old technology. So if you have a box set aside of this kind of thing, and have been waiting for an annual opportunity, wait no more. You can Rebin it.
Further down the road the diocese will be having a tent revival on Thursday evening June 19th, at 7 p.m., featuring former Presiding Bishop Michael Curry as preacher. Yes, a tent revival in the Episcopal Church: believe it, mark your calendars, and come! The revival is free, but at 5 p.m. that evening there will be a dinner, for which you will need tickets. More information can be found here.
The Parish Picnic has been scheduled for August 8th (rain date, August 15th) at the lakeside home of Dr. Pat Jolie and Peter Brucato. I am so grateful for all the years that Doc Lisa hosted this summer highlight, and delighted share the good news of this delightful new place. Watch for more news!
And finally, the office will be closed on Monday for Memorial Day.
With gratitude in Our Risen Lord,
Mtr. Judith
