Dear People of Saint John’s:

The Lenten Devotional sign-up is on the website: Sign up here!  If you write, you will be in very good company.

The Annual Meeting is coming right up this Sunday, January 25th, right after the 10 a.m. service.  Lunch will be served, elections will be held, annual meeting reports and updated directories will be distributed, and we will have an opportunity to hear from the Treasurer and Rector about the state of things and visions for the future.  Elections will include the Senior Warden, four Vestry positions, and Delegates and Alternates to Convention.  Thank you to the ministry leaders who submitted 24 annual reports and to Jennifer for soliciting and compiling them.  So much great ministry has happened here this year--God is indeed alive among us!

Also on Sunday, the 9 a.m. Bible Study class has chosen its next course.  By biblical scholar N.T. Wright, this accessible and practical beginner’s Bible Study examines 15 Essential Biblical Texts.

“No matter where we are on our spiritual journey, we all need guidance through life’s challenges. In this engaging video series, we invite you to explore the wisdom found in 15 key Biblical texts you can use to bring deeper meaning to your life.

“Hosted by Professor N.T. Wright, this video series examines the impact each of these critical Old and New Testament texts had on his own life, and how the lessons contained within can help you improve your relationship with God, too.”

And last, a word of thanks from Agnes Zink regarding Community Compass:

Dear St. John’s Family,

I hope this message finds you well. As a fellow member of this wonderful congregation, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the love and commitment that define St. John’s. It is this spirit of faith and service that inspires the mission of Community Compass RC (Rensselaer County), guiding us to reach out and make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us.

Community Compass RC exists to bring hope and support to our neighbors as we connect them to the social services available to them and search out additional moral support and material aid. The foundation of that mission is deeply rooted in the values we share here at St. John’s. Every time we gather for worship, prayer, and fellowship, I am reminded that our church is more than a building—it is a beacon of compassion and generosity that lights the way for our community.

Thank you for being part of this journey, especially as you provided gift cards and stockings for area children in need this past Christmas.  Your prayers, encouragement, and willingness to serve make it possible for us to extend Christ’s love beyond our walls. If you would like to learn more or get involved with Community Compass RC, please feel free to reach out—I would love to connect.

With gratitude,

Agnes Zink

With gratitude for our life together,

Mtr. Judith
