New Rector

St. John’s Episcopal Church in Troy, New York is delighted to announce that Mother Judith Malionek has accepted a position as our new rector. Mother Judith is currently the Curate at St. Paul’s in Albany.

She received her bachelor’s degree from Brown University and her Masters in Divinity at Trinity School for Ministry, where she received the seminary’s award for excellence in liturgy. Her ordination to the priesthood took place in November of 2017. Before entering the seminary, she worked in social services, Christian education, and served as a church organist and music director. She has been canonically resident in the Diocese of Albany for three years. She is married to the Rev. Tom Malionek, who is the priest of St. Paul’s in Kinderhook; they have two grown children.

In addition to her other church experience, Mother Judith has trained with the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, a Montessori-style Christian education program for children from 3 to 12, and has implemented the program at St. Michael’s in Colonie, where she served as a seminarian.

We on the Search Committee have found Mother Judith to be an engaging and enthusiastic person of great faith, and we look forward to welcoming her to St. John’s.
